How HTQs can support you to develop new skills and prepare you for a future job

Are you aged 18–24 and thinking about your next steps? You might be taking a break while you decide what to do next, in a job that isn’t meeting your ambitions, or wondering how you might be able to combine higher education and work.

Higher Technical Qualifications (HTQs) are Higher Education qualifications in England that are focused on the skills and knowledge employers need for higher skilled jobs. They typically follow qualifications such as A-Levels, T Levels and BTECs, and are shorter than a university degree. They are often available part-time in a local FE college and are increasingly available as short modules.

HTQs can be a great option for people who want to learn and gain new skills early in their career, are interested in sectors like engineering, health, IT and childcare, and are looking for really accessible routes into higher education.

Who should attend?

This webinar is open to all but will be particularly useful for individuals aged 18–24 who are not currently in education or training and may be taking time out to consider their next steps, young people in work but looking for a better matched role, and those who now feel more ready for higher education than they did at 18. It will also support those professionals involved in providing careers guidance to over-18s, for example through the Jobs and Careers Service.
