A Whole-School Approach to Apprenticeship Awareness – La Retraite RC Girls’ School

We have an extensive careers programme for Years 7-13 which informs students, parents and staff about the apprenticeship options open to them.
These activities include:
- Careers lesson for all students from Year 7-13 via Personal Development
- Year 8 Creative Arts Curriculum focuses on Careers in Construction
- Year 9 have a Careers Day before Options Evening
- Year 9 Parents have a talk about T Levels and Apprenticeships
- Year 10-12 have individual interviews with qualified Careers Adviser
- Year 10-12 have a Careers fair
- We regularly have apprentice alumni come back to the school to speak at the Year 9 Careers Day, and the Year 10 and 12 careers fair. Alumni often come to class and give sector specific talks about how to progress to apprenticeships in their field.
