Alumni Inspire The Next Generation – Carre’s Grammar School

We were delighted to host an incredibly insightful Sixth Form talk, welcoming back five former students to share their varied post-school journeys, offering a wealth of practical advice to current students. Our returning “ex-Carrensians” represented a broad spectrum of career paths, including Apprenticeships, the Armed Forces, and Flight School. Their collective wisdom spanned different stages of professional development, providing a comprehensive look at the process from initial application to career establishment.

The focus on apprenticeships was particularly strong and illuminating. Edward, who recently left the school, spoke candidly about navigating the dual path of applying for both university and apprenticeships, eventually securing a highly competitive Level 7 Aerospace Engineering Apprenticeship. Following him, Hari shared his experiences from the ground up, detailing the challenges and rewards of completing his first year in a Finance Apprenticeship. Capping off the apprenticeship insights, Conor – now a firmly established manager in Deal Advisory Tax – provided a valuable perspective on long-term career growth within the company he originally trained with.

Students also benefited from hearing from other exciting careers: Matt offered his unique experiences of joining the Armed Forces, and Max detailed his journey through flight school to become a qualified pilot. This event offered current students a pragmatic and diverse view of their options after Carre’s, arming them with the knowledge to make informed decisions about their futures.
