Apprenticeship Seminars – Samuel Whitbread Academy

At Samuel Whitbread Academy, we have developed a structured, termly Seminar Programme for Years 9–11, delivered in tutor time.
This initiative was created to give students early, meaningful exposure to modern apprenticeships and the wider pathways available to them. We have carefully designed a sequence of apprenticeship seminars to build students’ understanding of different pathways. These sessions include:
- demystifying apprenticeships
- exploring industries and employers
- what employers are looking for
- applications and assessment centres
- interview preparation
- tailored student support
Students also develop long‑term planning skills through roadmap activities that show what high‑quality apprenticeship routes involve.
Alongside the Seminar Programme, our wider Future Pathways Seminars throughout the year will introduce Russell Group, Oxbridge, Medicine, Veterinary and University Alliance options, ensuring every learner can explore ambitious futures. This programme will help students build confidence, awareness and aspiration from Year 9 onwards.
