FSQs to fill the gaps – Glenthorne High School
May 26, 2025
At our school, we use the Future Skills Questionnaires (offered by the Careers & Enterprise Company as part of their free digital product Compass+) as a vital part of shaping and strengthening our careers programme. These tools give us real insight into each pupil’s strengths, interests, and potential development areas. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, the questionnaires help us tailor support that’s personal and meaningful.
Targeted guidance
When we review the results, we can clearly see which students might thrive in an apprenticeship environment, and we step in early to offer targeted guidance. This includes help with applications, interview practice, and connecting them with local employers. For those interested in more academic or professional routes, we use the data to identify who would benefit from focused support on assessment centres and mock interviews.
T Level awareness
The questionnaires have also been invaluable in growing awareness of T Levels. Many students aren’t sure what T Levels involve, so when we spot those with strong practical skills or interest in technical pathways, we follow up with tailored sessions to build their understanding and confidence.
FSQ success
Ultimately, using the Future Skills questionnaires allows us to personalise our careers program in a way that feels relevant and supportive to each young person. It has helped us have better conversations, target our resources more effectively, and make sure no student is left behind when it comes to planning their next steps.
