Futures Week – St George’s Academy

December 22, 2025

At St George’s Academy, we hold Futures Week for all Year 10 students across both campuses, to empower young people to make informed choices about their next steps along their education/career journey. The driver is to ensure they are getting the best careers advice and information.

The week is student focused, allowing students to select who they engage with ensuring that the week can be tailored to their specific direction they want to take their future in. The week combines sessions from motivational speakers, opportunities to learn more about the local industries and opportunities to explore post-16 options. Sessions are split into:

  • Industry expert sessions
  • Post-16 Pathways
  • Elevator pitches

We are always thankful to our excellent organisations and individuals who support the week, creating a ‘buzz’ amongst the year group. Industries represented include Sport, Animal Care, Health Care, Manufacturing, Construction, Engineering, Beauty and many more. The week begins with a fantastic motivational speaker who provides students with that energy and drive to succeed.

Students gained first-hand experience of how to prepare for an interview and the process of an elevator pitch. These were enjoyed by students and volunteers who gave up their time to support students for their future.

This week was highly successful because it gave students an opportunity to engage and explore something that they care about and want to develop for their future self. The week required students to demonstrate resilience, commitment and courage, all of which allowed the students to be successful with their sessions throughout the week. Every student could connect with career pathways individual to them. This week was transformative by putting students at the centre, this approach effectively bridged the gap between personal growth and future aspirations.
