Green Careers Insight Day! – South Thames Colleges Group

Students from years 9+10 at Raynes Park High School visited our Engineering and Green Construction Workshops at Merton College to learn more about Green Construction Careers and opportunities/apprenticeships in sustainable industries.

During the morning, they had a tour of the college facilities and heard more about vocational subject options and the differences between college and school sixth form learning environments. The group of 30 was then divided up and took part in 2 workshops on solar and wind energy – connecting solar panels in series/parallel and learning about wind speeds/power output. They engaged with current college students and heard about green jobs and career pathways. Equipment for initiatives like these are funded by the Association of Colleges (AoC) project and staffed by the College tutors and School Partnerships Team.
