July 21, 2026
Year 8 students enjoyed an engaging workplace visit to a digital marketing and website development company, where they gained valuable insight into the wide range of careers involved in building and promoting businesses online.
The visit began with an introduction to the company and the services it provides, followed by a discussion linking school subjects such as English, Maths, ICT, Art and Business Studies to careers in digital marketing and website development.
Students explored different forms of marketing, including websites, social media and influencer marketing, before taking part in activities that demonstrated how businesses attract customers and promote their products. They also learned how Artificial Intelligence is being used within the industry and saw examples of AI-generated content and branding.
A carousel of activities gave students the opportunity to meet employees from different departments, including website development, marketing, operations and client management. They learned how websites are designed and maintained, how marketing campaigns are created and analysed, and how businesses manage client relationships and finances.
The visit highlighted the variety of career opportunities available within the digital sector and showed students that successful websites rely on a combination of technical, creative and business skills.
Student Reflection
“I didn’t know there were people doing this or the amount of people it takes to work on a website.”
This comment perfectly captured one of the key learning points from the visit. Students gained a greater understanding of the many different roles involved in creating and maintaining websites and digital campaigns, helping them broaden their awareness of future career opportunities and the pathways available into the industry.
