Unlocking Opportunity Through Local Networks – Samuel Whitbread Academy
November 6, 2025
We’ve built a dynamic careers programme rooted in real-world connections. Across the year, students engage with guest speakers, alumni, employers, apprenticeship providers and colleges through assemblies, workshops, and careers fairs. Sessions cover interview skills, LinkedIn, recruitment processes, and assessment centre preparation. We also run employability trips to workplaces like Network Rail, where students experience mock interviews, meet apprentices, and take part in real assessment activities. Careers experts deliver targeted sessions on finding and applying for apprenticeships, building employability skills, and exploring local opportunities. Our posters and updates keep students informed and inspired. We make careers education personal, practical, and powerful. By leveraging local networks and employer partnerships, students gain authentic insights, build confidence, and see clear pathways into the world of work. Engagement is high, feedback is glowing, and students leave better prepared for their futures.
