Year 12 Pathways and Futures Day – Royal Hospital School

July 17, 2025

Our Pathways and Futures Day for Year 12 is a key milestone in preparing pupils for life beyond school. Starting with a visit to the University of Essex for the UCAS Discovery Day, an invaluable opportunity for pupils to explore a breadth of post-18 pathways, including universities, higher and degree apprenticeships, and technical training providers.

Pupils engaged directly with admissions staff and employer representatives, they attended subject-specific talks and workshops on how to make strong, successful applications, whether for university courses or competitive apprenticeship programmes. In the afternoon, the focus shifted to practical skills development, with a workshop led by the University of Suffolk in partnership with our sixth form team and Head of Futures. Pupils began crafting compelling CVs and personal statements tailored to their chosen pathways.
