Earn while you learn

For each apprenticeship Level, we offer a competitive salary. The salary will be dependent on the Level of your apprenticeship and location.

The following are the apprentice salary ranges by Level for our 2025 intake:

Level 3 – £22,500 – £24,500
Level 4 – £23,500 – £25,500
Level 5 – £24,500 – £26,500
Level 6 – £26,228 – £30,784 – dependent on location and team

Annual Leave

Enjoy a generous annual leave allowance. You’ll receive a minimum of 25 days holiday each year, plus eight days Bank/Public Holidays (pro-rated based on your standard weekly working hours). Our annual leave year runs 1st January to 31st December each year. There is also the option to tailor your holiday to suit your lifestyle using our flexible buy/sell holiday scheme.

Eyecare Vouchers

If your job requires you to use a laptop, iPad or a similar display screen for long periods of time, you could receive free eye tests at a Specsavers optician and contributions of up to £49 towards glasses. If eligible, you’ll need to log in to request a voucher, which will act as payment for your eye test with Specsavers.

Once you’ve selected your chosen apprenticeship in your preferred region and role, you will need to click the ‘Apply Now’ button on the job you are interested in. This will take you through to the Atkins Realis Recruitment Portal, where you will need to register as a new candidate or log into your account if you have previously set one up.

The Recruitment Portal is where you will complete your online application. You will be asked for some more information about you, your educational background and core modules. As we don’t ask for a CV, it’s important that you take your time and ensure all the information you want captured is conveyed in this section.

If your application is successful, you will be invited to complete our online Immersive Assessment, which takes a ‘day in the life of’ approach where we’ve blended a few assessments to make it easier for you and to give you a feel for what it might be like to work for us.

The test will take you approximately 60 minutes to complete. Part one consists of several situational judgment questions and questions focused on numerical and verbal reasoning.

Part two involves you being asked three questions. One of these requires a written answer, while the other two are video answers (you’ll get a chance to practice these).

This is a key part of the selection process, so it’s really important that you focus on your answers, as the outcome will determine whether you progress to the next stage of the process. You’ll only have one opportunity to do it, so take your computer somewhere quiet, go through the introduction guidelines and listen to the advice that gives you a feel of what to expect.

If you perform well in your assessment, you may be selected to progress to the virtual interview held on Microsoft Teams.

The interview is approximately 90 minutes long and will cover some technical elements, competencies and questions on how you may respond to different scenarios. Part of the interview may be with a group of other candidates or conducted individually. However, you will have an individual interview with two hiring managers.

We’ll let you know as soon as possible afterwards if you’ve been successful in securing a position. Initially, an offer will be made to you verbally, then shortly after, you’ll receive a full contract outlining the details of your offer, including the college or university that will support your learning throughout the apprenticeship.
