Thousands of parents and carers get clued up on apprenticeships

In celebration of National Apprenticeship Week 2026, Amazing Apprenticeships hosted a free webinar for thousands of parents and carers from across England.

The session opened with Director of Amazing Apprenticeships, Anna Morrison, who introduced what apprenticeships are, explained the breadth of apprenticeship standards available, and clarified how the different levels work.

Anna Morrison explained,

“We find that many parents and carers are unsure about how they can support their child when they start looking at apprenticeships. It can feel confusing to understand when their child should begin searching, and how best to find reliable vacancy information.”

The webinar addressed these concerns directly, breaking the process down into clear, practical guidance on where to look, what the application journey typically involves, and how young people can start building their readiness for roles that interest them.

Attendees were also able to hear from guest speakers who shared their own experiences of the apprenticeship pathway.

Husna Umarki, Customer Journey Manager at Lloyds Banking Group, spoke about beginning her career with a Level 4 Business Analyst apprenticeship after realising university was not the right path for her. Husna offered thoughtful advice for parents supporting their children through applications, with reassurance about handling rejection from multiple applications too.

Shadnay Ngari, now in the third year of her Solicitor apprenticeship with Eversheds Sutherland, described her decision to take a gap year and defer her university offers before applying for and accepting a Solicitor apprenticeship role.
